Hello Bob,

thank you for the compliments! There is indeed a successor in the works that will launch in early August. Check back here in a few weeks to find out more, and let us know what you think of it.

What I can say for now is that the new site will have a better paint mode and improved community features, including the ability to challenge friends. Commenting will still not be possible though. Out of experience such a feature needs strict moderation, something we simply cannot to spend our limited resources on.

It is obviously an area we're interested in though. For the next iteration we might look into a connection to other community platforms like Twitter or Facebook.

Truly a wonderful web site! My son and I (he is 9 yrs old) have spent countless hours at this point designing aircraft and flying them together. The one sore point is that there is no messaging or social networking possible, which really seems a shame since it is a truly internationally used website and the users are able to vote on each other's work and compete against each other. Simply being able to leave comments on another pilot's designs would be wonderful. I don't suppose there are any plans for a version 2.0? Or perhaps a stand alone piece of software, allowing for more parts, a better painting program subroutine, other means of propulsion besides flapping wings (I have a head full of ideas for this program!) At any rate, congradulations on the recognition of the Webby Awards!

Bob (aka "Monkeyboy" on Flugtag)
