Haunch of Venison
December 20th, 2006 by LuisWe have recently launched the new Flash site for Haunch Of Venison. It supports the use of browser back-buttons and deeplinking plus friendly Search Engine Optimization (SEO) powered by a complete content management system. An AA Accessible version and language selection are on their way too.
The site functions as a resource for the Gallery’s exhibitions (London, Zürich, Berlin, Athens) as well as documenting the activities of the represented artists. In addition, it provides access to available works for sale, online and offline private views and books & editions.

as the method of resolving a domain’s name IP address is the same on every place in the world, the problem lies either on the provider’s or on your side.
do you have the same problem with other domains, too (e.g. lessrain.com/de/co.uk/co.jp)?
does this problem exist, if you try to connect via another provider (e.g. from an internet cafe)?

Great Work, would you share some details on the SEO part? How is it done, is it a different output of the CMS? And as it looks you did the deeplinking part yourself there also is the nice swfAdress (http://www.asual.com/swfaddress/)
January 31st, 2007 at 1:32 pm
Uli,
you’re on the right track. We didn’t use swfAddress because at least I didn’t know about it. Maybe there’s some flash issues with it, Luis would know that better.
But the concept is pretty much equal: All pages are delivered as XML individually, with a separate file for the Navigation. Flash requests those and displays them.
The SEO-part is essentially the whole site transformed with XSL, using the a querystring (?page=home.usw) instead of a hash (#page=home.usw).
A couple of lines of Javascript replace the question mark with the hash mark, and your html search result will redirect you to the right page in the flash version.
Try turning off javascript and you’ll see.
